I'm moving to London, and need to sell these great European speakers.
They're about 4 to 5 years old, in excellent condition, and really haven't
been used too heavily (I live in a small apartment). This pair is black in
colour.

Not much more I can say. Photos are available on request.

They cost around $1100 new. I'm asking $350.

email me at ***@hotmail.com for me info.

Dali Blue 5005

A Statement of Style and Power

DALI loudspeakers take your mind off technology and let you focus on the
musical experience

The Sound:

The general characteristics of the Blue Series are: high-sensitivity designs
with deep - reaching, firm bass reproduction and extended highs.
Furthermore, three key points distinguish the Blue Series: Timing, Power and
Linear Directivity Timing. This is one of the essential keywords in Dali
speaker development. It symbolises the capability of a speaker to
communicate the three-dimensional aspects of the recordings. All the new
Blue Series speakers can project a panoramic soundstage, which is important
in stereo, but perhaps even more in surround installations, where the number
of speakers make it essential that all channels contribute to aid the
listener in positioning the exact location of sounds. Power:

Blue Series combines unadulterated hi-fi sound with a healthy dose of power.
There is enough subtlety to dive into and discover the layers often hidden
in music such as high energy techno. But the speakers are by no means too
delicate to handle the dynamics that are also an inseparable part of such
music. The Low Loss suspensions and the Timing capabilities combine to
realize the delicate as well as the violent aspects of music. In particular,
the power potential has been designed into the 3003, 5005 and 6006 models by
placing the tweeter between two woofer/midranges, a principle known as
d'Appolito. In speakers with this design, the reflected sound has a mild
suppression of the midrange, resulting in a moderate loudness effect. In
combination with the direct-radiated sound, the total character is pleasant
and full-sounding, especially when playing at high volumes. Linear
Directivity:

As always in Dali speakers, fine off-axis properties with even dispersion of
all frequencies result in a wide listening window. The frequency balance is
maintained, even when listening from less than ideal positions.
Further-more, this ensures correlation between direct and reflected sound,
resulting in a very homogenous soundstage. The Building Blocks:

Tweeter:

A newly developed 1" silk dome tweeter is used in the new Blue Series. The
soft dome type has been chosen because its non-resonant properties permit it
to realize fine nuances. Also, it is not easy to locate as a radiator of
sound. The magnet system is designed with the Focussed Magnetic Field used
extensively by Dali to yield a fast, dynamic reproduction of high frequency
transients while maintaining a weightless, non-aggressive character. The
voice coil is protected against overheating by the use of ferrofluid with
low sticktion. The characteristic shape of the mounting plate surrounding
the soft dome serves purely acoustic purposes, guiding sound away from the
dome as gently as possible. Bass/Midrange Drivers:

All drivers use Focused Magnetic Field, and all diaphragms are made of
lightweight but highly rigid paper pulp, coated to control resonance. The
easily accelerated cones and soft suspensions are part of the Low Loss
design that permit the drive units to respond willingly to even minute
currents, thus maintaining the micro-sounds of music. Dynamic compression
owing to air being trapped behind rear suspension and dust cap has been
eliminated by venting these cavities. Bass Reflex:

The reflex system calculations are very sophisticated, permitting high
precision as well as deep-reaching, exact bass reproduction. We call the
entire approach, matching the drive units and tuning the system, for the
Dali Type II reflex tuning. This approach puts great demands on the
precision involved in the production of drive units as well as enclosures.
But the rewards are unmistakable. The bass reflex ports are all front
mounted. Crossover Network:

The crossover may be considered the heart of a loudspeaker, and the ones
developed for the new Blue Series are fairly complex. They are designed with
four essential objectives in mind: 1. Linear frequency response, 2. Linear
directivity, 3. Optimum time response, 4. Linear impedance. Unusual in this
price category, all crossovers are hand-assembled by hard-wiring, no printed
circuit boards are used. The chokes are wound in-house, and all components
are fixed to the mounting plate to avoid resonance. Binding Posts:

All standmount models have double screw-type binding posts, the surround
speaker has spring-loaded types. All floorstanders have double screw-type
binding posts to permit bi-wiring or bi-amping, a feature not available on
the former blue series.

Not yet. A friend at work seems interested, but uncertain.
